You can submit a properly completed initial assessment of professional qualification application form to ADC at any time of the year if you're a dentist and want to get assessed.

To fill out the Australian Dental Council (ADC) initial assessment form, you will need to:

  • Go to the ADC website and create an account.

  • Once you have logged in, click on the "Assessments" tab and then select "Initial assessment".

  • Click on the "Apply now" button and select your profession.

  • Read the information on the next page carefully and then click on the "Start application" button.

  • Follow the instructions on the screen to complete your application.

You need to confirm your registration and application type at the start of your application.

Registration type is the general registration division you want to register with the Dental Board of Australia. For example, if you are an overseas qualified dentist you cannot apply for registration as a dental hygienist.

Application type is the type of application you want to complete. For dentists there are three options: initial assessment for registration, skills assessment, or both. If you wish to complete an initial assessment for registration and a skills assessment, you must meet the documentation requirements. For requirement you can check the link https://adc.org.au/assessments/dentists/skills-assessment/

You will need to provide the following information:

  • Your personal details, including your name, address, contact information, and date of birth.

  • Your dental qualification, including the name of the institution where you qualified and the date you graduated.

  • Your registration history, including the name of the dental board(s) with which you are currently or have been registered.

  • Your work experience, including the name and address of each dental practice where you have worked, the dates you worked there, and a brief description of your role.

You will also need to upload copies of the following documents:

  1. Your current passport

  2. A recent passport photo

  3. Your dental qualification certificate

  4. Your academic transcript

  5. Internship certificate (if applicable)

  6. Evidence of registration or licence to practise dentistry

Passport photographs must be clear and uploaded as a .png file. All other documents must be clear and submitted in .pdf, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .docx, .doc, .tif, or .tiff format.

Letter of Good Standing:

You must arrange for a certificate/letter of good standing to be sent to the ADC. This must be sent directly to ADC from the organisation responsible for regulating dental registration or dental licence in your country of practice. ADC accept certificated/letters of good standing in electronic and hard copy formats. Letters of good standing received before you submit your application submission are valid for 3 months from the date of issue.

Once you have completed your application and uploaded all required documents, click on the "Submit" button.

The ADC will assess your application and determine whether you are eligible to sit the written examination. If you are eligible, the ADC will send you an email with information about how to register for the exam.

You will receive an ADC candidate reference number after your application and accompanying documents have been received. Use this number whenever you communicate with the ADC.
